Sufyan and Ubada, who was one of the seven chieftains, said, "We pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to hear and obey in hardship and ease, in what we like and what we dislike, not to dispute authority with those who hold it, and to speak the truth wherever we are, fearing no one's blame for the sake of Allah."Sufyan said, "Some people added the phrase, 'unless you see open disbelief.'"
حدثنا سفيان عن يحيى عن عبادة بن الوليد بن عبادة بن الصامت سمعه من جده وقال سفيان مرة
سفيان وعبادة نقيب وهو من السبعة بايعنا رسول الله ﷺ على السمع والطاعة في العسر واليسر والمنشط والمكره ولا ننازع الأمر أهله نقول بالحق حيثما كنا لا نخاف في الله لومة لائم قال سفيان زاد بعض الناس ما لم تروا كفرا بواحا
