Hammam reported,

Ata bin Abu Rabah was asked, while I was present, about the merit of fasting on the Day of Arafah. He said, "This came from your direction, people of Iraq. Abu al-Khalil narrated it to me from Harmala bin Iyas, from Abu Qatada, that the Prophet ﷺ said something close in meaning to this. He said, 'Fasting on the Day of Arafah is equivalent to fasting two years, and fasting on the Day of Ashura is equivalent to fasting one year.'"
