A man from the Ansar was brought to the Prophet ﷺ so that he might pray over him, but he said, "Pray over your companion yourselves, for he has a debt outstanding."Abu Qatada said, "It is my responsibility, Messenger of Allah."The Prophet ﷺ asked, "With full payment?"Abu Qatada replied, "With full payment."So he prayed over him. The debt amounted to only eighteen or nineteen dirham.In another wording, Abu Qatada said, "I will guarantee it," and the Prophet ﷺ asked, "With full payment?" Hajjaj likewise reported the words, "I will guarantee it," and he said, "I heard Abdullah bin Abu Qatada."
