He caught a wild donkey while he was not in a state of ihram, and they were in ihram. They asked the Prophet ﷺ about it, and he instructed them to eat from it.

أصاب حمار وحش يعني وهو محل وهم محرمون فسألوا النبي ﷺ فأمرهم بأكله
