Humayd reported,

Walid came to me and a companion of mine and said to us, "Come, both of you are younger than me and have a better memory for hadith than I do."He took us to Bishr bin Asim. Abu Aliyah said to him, "Narrate your hadith to these two."He said, Uqba bin Malik narrated to us. Abu Nadr Laythi said, Bahz said, and he was from his clan, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ dispatched a raiding party. They attacked a people, and one man broke away from the group. A man from the raiding party pursued him with his sword drawn.The man who had broken away said, "I am a Muslim."But the pursuer paid no attention to what he said and struck him, killing him.The news reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he spoke about it harshly. Word of this reached the killer.While the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was delivering a sermon, the killer said, "Messenger of Allah, by Allah, he only said what he said as a means of escaping being killed."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned away from him and from those before him among the people and continued his sermon.Then the man said again, "Messenger of Allah, he only said what he said as a means of escaping being killed."He turned away from him and from those before him among the people and continued his sermon.Then the man could not contain himself and said a third time, "Messenger of Allah, by Allah, he only said it as a means of escaping being killed."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned to face him, displeasure visible on his face, and said to him, "Allah refuses to forgive the one who kills a believer," repeating it three times.

حميد قال

أتاني الوليد أنا وصاحب لي قال فقال لنا هلما فأنتما أشب مني سنا وأوعى للحديث مني قال فانطلق بنا إلى بشر بن عاصم قال فقال له أبو العالية تحدث هذين حديثك قال حدثنا عقبة بن مالك قال أبو النضر الليثي قال بهز وكان من رهطه قال بعث رسول الله ﷺ سرية قال فأغارت على قوم قال فشذ من القوم رجل قال فاتبعه رجل من السرية شاهرا سيفه قال فقال الشاذ من القوم إني مسلم قال فلم ينظر فيما قال فضربه فقتله قال فنمى الحديث إلى رسول الله ﷺ قال فقال فيه قولا شديدا فبلغ القاتل قال فبينا رسول الله ﷺ يخطب قال القاتل يا رسول الله والله ما قال الذي قال إلا تعوذا من القتل قال فأعرض عنه وعمن قبله من الناس وأخذ في خطبته ثم قال أيضا يا رسول الله ما قال الذي قال إلا تعوذا من القتل فأعرض عنه وعمن قبله من الناس وأخذ في خطبته ثم لم يصبر فقال الثالثة يا رسول الله والله ما قال إلا تعوذا من القتل فأقبل عليه رسول الله ﷺ تعرف المساءة في وجهه قال له إن الله عز وجل أبى على من قتل مؤمنا ثلاث مرات
