Abu Abdul-Rahman Fahri reported,

I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the campaign of Hunayn. We traveled on a scorching, intensely hot day and stopped to rest beneath the shade of the trees. When the sun began to decline, I put on my armor, mounted my horse, and rode to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who was in his tent.I said, "Peace be upon you, Messenger of Allah, and the mercy of Allah. The time to set out has come."He replied, "Indeed."Then he called out, "Bilal!"Bilal sprang up from beneath an acacia tree, his shadow like the shadow of a bird, and said, "At your service, ready to please you, and I am your ransom."The Prophet said, "Saddle my horse for me."He brought out a saddle whose two sides were of palm fiber, with no extravagance or pride in them. He saddled the horse, and the Prophet mounted, and we mounted with him.We drew up in ranks facing them through that evening and night. Then the two cavalries clashed, and the Muslims turned and fled, just as Allah described.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called out, "Servants of Allah, I am the servant of Allah and His Messenger!" Then he said, "Company of Emigrants, I am the servant of Allah and His Messenger!"Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ dismounted from his horse and took a handful of dust. The one who was closer to him than I was told me that he flung it in their faces and said, "May the faces be disfigured!" So Allah routed them.Yala bin Ata said, "Their sons related to me from their fathers that they said, 'Not one of us remained without his eyes and mouth being filled with dust, and we heard a clanging between the sky and the earth like the sound of iron being dragged across an iron basin.'"

حدثنا بهز حدثنا حماد بن سلمة أخبرني يعلى بن عطاء عن أبي همام قال أبو الأسود هو عبد الله بن يسار

عن أبي عبد الرحمن الفهري قال

كنت مع رسول الله ﷺ في غزوة حنين فسرنا في يوم قائظ شديد الحر فنزلنا تحت ظلال الشجر فلما زالت الشمس لبست لأمتي وركبت فرسي فانطلقت إلى رسول الله ﷺ وهو في فسطاطه فقلت السلام عليك يا رسول الله ورحمة الله حان الرواح فقال أجل فقال يا بلال فثار من تحت سمرة كأن ظله ظل طائر فقال لبيك وسعديك وأنا فداؤك فقال أسرج لي فرسي فأخرج سرجا دفتاه من ليف ليس فيهما أشر ولا بطر قال فأسرج قال فركب وركبنا فصاففناهم عشيتنا وليلتنا فتشامت الخيلان فولى المسلمون مدبرين كما قال الله عز وجل فقال رسول الله ﷺ يا عباد الله أنا عبد الله ورسوله ثم قال يا معشر المهاجرين أنا عبد الله ورسوله قال ثم اقتحم رسول الله ﷺ عن فرسه فأخذ كفا من تراب فأخبرني الذي كان أدنى إليه مني ضرب به وجوههم وقال شاهت الوجوه فهزمهم الله عز وجل قال يعلى بن عطاء فحدثني أبناؤهم عن آبائهم أنهم قالوا لم يبق منا أحد إلا امتلأت عيناه وفمه ترابا وسمعنا صلصلة بين السماء والأرض كإمرار الحديد على الطست الحديد
