Raiya Suhaymi came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "A raid has been carried out against my children and my property."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "As for the property, it has already been distributed. As for your son, go with him, Bilal. If he recognizes his son, hand him over to him."So Bilal went with him and showed him the boy, then asked, "Do you recognize him?"He answered, "Yes."So Bilal handed him over, and he went off with him.Sufyan said, "They believe that he had embraced Islam before the raid was carried out against him."

جاء رعية السحيمي إلى النبي ﷺ فقال أغير على ولدي ومالي فقال رسول الله ﷺ أما المال فقد اقتسم وأما الولد فاذهب معه يا بلال فإن عرف ولده فادفعه إليه قال فذهب معه فأراه إياه فقال تعرفه قال نعم فدفعه فذهب إليه قال سفيان يرون أنه أسلم قبل أن يغار عليه

Its isnad is sahih. Abu Amr Shaybani is Saad bin Iyas Kufi, one of the senior trustworthy Tabiin who lived through the transition period, and his hadith is found in the collections of all the major compilers, and likewise the rest of the narrators are well known and trustworthy. Haythami said in 6/206, "Ahmad related it with two chains of transmission, one of which has narrators matching those of the Sahih." As for his statement, "Raiyah Suhaymi came," Abu Dawud considered it a mursal narration, as noted in his Marasil, 31. But it is a sahih mursal narration, for Abu Amr Shaybani encountered Raiyah and encountered many of the companions, so he belongs to the transitional generation. The hadith was related by Tabarani in Al-Kabir, 5/78.
