Its chain of transmission is sahih. It appears in Majma al-Zawaid 3:176, attributed to Ahmad, Bazzar, and Tabarani in al-Kabir, where it is said, "The men of Ahmad's chain are the men of Sahih." "He touches the heads" is a euphemism for kissing.
