Abu Masud Uqba bin Amr reported,

While I was beating a slave of mine, I suddenly heard a man calling out from behind me, "Know, Abu Masud. Know, Abu Masud."I turned around, and there was the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said, "By Allah, Allah has more power over you than you have over this slave."I then swore that I would never beat a slave of mine again.

حدثنا عبد الرحمن عن سفيان عن الأعمش عن إبراهيم التيمي عن أبيه

عن أبي مسعود قال

بينا أنا أضرب مملوكا لي إذا رجل ينادي من خلفي اعلم يا أبا مسعود اعلم يا أبا مسعود فالتفت فإذا رسول الله ﷺ فقال والله لله أقدر عليك منك على هذا قال فحلفت لا أضرب مملوكا لي أبدا
