Safwan bin Salim reported,

Abu Umama Bahili entered Damascus and saw the heads of the Haruriyya mounted up. He said three times, "Dogs of the Fire, dogs of the Fire. The worst slain beneath the shade of the sky. The best slain are those whom they killed." Then he wept.A man stood up and approached him and asked, "Abu Umama, is what you are saying your own opinion, or did you hear it?"He replied, "I would be very bold indeed. How could I say this from my own opinion? I heard it more than once, more than twice."The man asked, "Then what makes you weep?"He answered, "I weep for their departure from Islam. These are the ones who split apart and made their religion into sects."

صفوان بن سليم يقول

دخل أبو أمامة الباهلي دمشق فرأى رءوس حروراء قد نصبت فقال كلاب النار كلاب النار ثلاثا شر قتلى تحت ظل السماء خير قتلى من قتلوا ثم بكى فقام إليه رجل فقال يا أبا أمامة هذا الذي تقول من رأيك أم سمعته قال إني إذا لجريء كيف أقول هذا عن رأي قال قد سمعته غير مرة ولا مرتين قال فما يبكيك قال أبكي لخروجهم من الإسلام هؤلاء الذين تفرقوا واتخذوا دينهم شيعا
