Abu Umama reported,

He narrated from the Prophet ﷺ regarding the saying of Allah , "As for those in whose hearts is deviation, they follow what is unspecific of it" [Aal Imran 3:7], that he said, "They are the Khawarij." And regarding the saying, "On the Day when faces will turn white and faces will turn black" [Aal Imran 3:106], he said, "They are the Khawarij."
