Muaz bin Jabal reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was delayed from leading us in the dawn prayer one morning until we could almost see the rim of the sun rising. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out quickly, the call to prayer was given, and he prayed, keeping the prayer brief.After he gave the salutation, he said, "Stay where you are in your rows." Then he turned to face us and said, "I am going to tell you what kept me from you this morning. I rose during the night, prayed what was decreed for me, then I grew drowsy in my prayer until I was overcome by sleep. Suddenly I found myself before my Lord in the most beautiful form.He said, 'Muhammad, do you know what the highest assembly is debating?'I said, 'I do not know, my Lord.'He said, 'Muhammad, what is the highest assembly debating?'I said, 'I do not know, my Lord.'Then I saw Him place His palm between my shoulders until I felt the coolness of His fingertips between my chest. Everything was unveiled to me and I came to know.He said, 'Muhammad, what is the highest assembly debating?'I said, 'About the expiations.'He said, 'And what are the expiations?'I said, 'Walking on foot to the congregational prayers, sitting in the mosques after the prayer, and completing the ablution thoroughly even in unpleasant conditions.'He said, 'And what are the elevating deeds?'I said, 'Feeding others, speaking gently, and praying at night while people are asleep.'He said, 'Ask.'I said, 'O Allah, I ask You for the doing of good deeds, the leaving of forbidden things, love for the poor, and that You forgive me and have mercy on me. When You will a trial upon a people, take me to Yourself untried. I ask You for Your love, the love of those who love You, and the love of every deed that brings me closer to Your love.'"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "It is true, so study it and learn it."

معاذ بن جبل قال

احتبس علينا رسول الله ﷺ ذات غداة عن صلاة الصبح حتى كدنا نتراءى قرن الشمس فخرج رسول الله ﷺ سريعا فثوب بالصلاة وصلى وتجوز في صلاته فلما سلم قال كما أنتم على مصافكم ثم أقبل إلينا فقال إني سأحدثكم ما حبسني عنكم الغداة إني قمت من الليل فصليت ما قدر لي فنعست في صلاتي حتى استيقظت فإذا أنا بربي عز وجل في أحسن صورة فقال يا محمد أتدري فيم يختصم الملأ الأعلى قلت لا أدري يا رب قال يا محمد فيم يختصم الملأ الأعلى قلت لا أدري رب فرأيته وضع كفه بين كتفي حتى وجدت برد أنامله بين صدري فتجلى لي كل شيء وعرفت فقال يا محمد فيم يختصم الملأ الأعلى قلت في الكفارات قال وما الكفارات قلت نقل الأقدام إلى الجمعات وجلوس في المساجد بعد الصلاة وإسباغ الوضوء عند الكريهات قال وما الدرجات قلت إطعام الطعام ولين الكلام والصلاة والناس نيام قال سل قلت اللهم إني أسألك فعل الخيرات وترك المنكرات وحب المساكين وأن تغفر لي وترحمني وإذا أردت فتنة في قوم فتوفني غير مفتون وأسألك حبك وحب من يحبك وحب عمل يقربني إلى حبك وقال رسول الله ﷺ إنها حق فادرسوها وتعلموها
