When the Prophet ﷺ sent Muaz to Yemen, he went out with him giving him final instructions, with Muaz mounted on his riding animal and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ walking beneath it. When he finished, he said, "Muaz, perhaps you will not meet me again after this year of mine, and perhaps you will pass by my mosque and my grave."Muaz bin Jabal wept out of grief at parting from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.The Prophet ﷺ said, "Do not weep, Muaz. Weeping," or, "Indeed weeping is from Satan."
حدثنا الحكم بن نافع أبو اليمان حدثنا صفوان بن عمرو عن راشد بن سعد
أن معاذا لما بعثه النبي ﷺ خرج إلى اليمن معه النبي ﷺ يوصيه ومعاذ راكب ورسول الله ﷺ يمشي تحت راحلته فلما فرغ قال يا معاذ إنك عسى أن لا تلقاني بعد عامي هذا ولعلك أن تمر بمسجدي وقبري فبكى معاذ بن جبل جشعا لفراق رسول الله ﷺ فقال النبي ﷺ لا تبك يا معاذ للبكاء أو إن البكاء من الشيطان
