Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stopped at a camping place, those nearest to him were the Emigrants. We halted at one such place, and the Prophet ﷺ settled there with us around him.During the night Muaz and I awoke and looked for him, so we went out searching. Then we heard a rumbling sound like the grinding of millstones, and he came toward us. When he drew near he looked at us and asked, "What is the matter with you?"We said, "We woke up and did not see you where you had been. We feared something had happened to you, so we came looking for you."He said, "A visitor came to me in my sleep and gave me a choice between half of my nation entering Paradise or intercession, and I chose intercession for them."We said, "We ask you by the right of Islam and by the right of our companionship with you, admit us into Paradise."Then the people gathered around him and said the same thing we had said, and their numbers grew. So he said, "I make my intercession for whoever dies without associating anything with Allah."
