Abdullah bin Abbas reported,

One night the Messenger of Allah ﷺ delayed the evening prayer until the people fell asleep, then woke up, then fell asleep again, then woke up once more.Qays said, Umar bin Khattab then came and said, "The prayer, Messenger of Allah."So he came out and led them in prayer, and it was not mentioned that they performed ablution.
