I was standing at the head of Mukhtar, and when I came to know his lying, I considered drawing my sword and striking off his neck. But then I remembered a hadith that Amr bin Hamiq narrated to us, saying, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever grants a man safety for his life and then kills him will be given the banner of treachery on the Day of Resurrection.'"

كنت أقوم على رأس المختار فلما عرفت كذبه هممت أن أسل سيفي فأضرب عنقه فذكرت حديثا حدثناه عمرو بن الحمق قال سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول من أمن رجلا على نفسه فقتله أعطي لواء الغدر يوم القيامة
