I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as part of a delegation from Kindah. Affan said, "They saw me as the most distinguished among them."I said, "Messenger of Allah, we claim that you belong to us."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "We are the descendants of Nadr bin Kinanah. We do not impugn our mother's lineage, nor do we disown our father."Ashath said, "By Allah, I will not hear of anyone tracing Quraysh to anyone other than Nadr bin Kinanah without giving him the prescribed lashes."
