Usama bin Zayd reported,

He was called Iyad, and the daughter of Usama was his wife. He said that mention was made to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ of a man who set out from one of the rural areas, and when he was close to Madinah on part of the road, the plague struck him. This alarmed the people. The Prophet ﷺ then said, "I hope that it will not come up over its mountain passes," meaning Madinah.Ubayy said, al-Hashimi and Yaqub also narrated it to us, and both of them said that he heard Usama.

عن ابن عم لأسامة بن زيد

يقال له عياض وكانت بنت أسامة تحته قال ذكر لرسول الله ﷺ رجل خرج من بعض الأرياف حتى إذا كان قريبا من المدينة ببعض الطريق أصابه الوباء قال فأفزع ذلك الناس قال فقال النبي ﷺ إني لأرجو أن لا يطلع علينا نقابها يعني المدينة قال أبي وحدثناه الهاشمي ويعقوب وقالا جميعا إنه سمع أسامة
