Haritha bin Mudarrib reported,
He performed the pilgrimage with Umar bin Khattab 
, and the noblemen of Syria came to him and said, "Commander of the Believers, we have acquired slaves and animals as part of our wealth, so take from our wealth a charity by which you may purify us and which will serve as zakat for us."Umar replied, "This is something the two who came before me did not do. But wait until I consult the Muslims."

عن حارثة بن مضرب
أنه حج مع عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه فأتاه أشراف أهل الشام فقالوا يا أمير المؤمنين إنا أصبنا من أموالنا رقيقا ودواب فخذ من أموالنا صدقة تطهرنا بها وتكون لنا زكاة فقال هذا شيء لم يفعله اللذان كانا من قبلي ولكن انتظروا حتى أسأل المسلمين

Its isnad is sahih. Zuhayr is Ibn Muawiya, the Jufi. His saying "Zuhayr" means that he read to Yahya what follows, "Zuhr," and so on, meaning that Yahya narrated it from Zuhayr, and Ahmad read it before him. This sort of thing is common in chains of transmission.This is what is established in manuscripts ك and ه, but the matter became confused for the editor of manuscript ح, so he recorded it as "Yahya bin Saeed bin Zuhayr," which is an error. The addition "from our wealth" we have added from manuscript ك.This hadith was narrated by Ibn Hazm in Muhalla, 5/229, through the route of Ahmad bin Hanbal, from Yahya bin Saeed, from Zuhayr bin Muawiya. This hadith is an abridged version of no. 82, see also no. 113.
