A man came to Saad asking him about the plague.Usama bin Zayd said, "I will tell you about it. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'This is a punishment, or something similar, that Allah sent upon people before you, or upon a group from the Children of Israil. It comes at times and departs at times. So if it strikes a land, do not enter it, and if it strikes a land while you are in it, do not leave fleeing from it.'"

جاء رجل يسأل سعدا عن الطاعون فقال أسامة بن زيد أنا أحدثك عنه سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول إن هذا عذاب أو كذا أرسله الله على ناس قبلكم أو طائفة من بني إسرائيل فهو يجيء أحيانا ويذهب أحيانا فإذا وقع بأرض فلا تدخلوا عليه وإذا وقع بأرض فلا تخرجوا فرارا منه
