Kharija bin Zayd bin Thabit reported,

Zayd bin Thabit said, "One day I was sitting beside the Prophet ﷺ when revelation came down upon him. A stillness settled over him, and as it did his thigh came to rest on mine. By Allah, I never felt anything heavier than the thigh of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Then the state passed from him and he said, 'Write, Zayd.'I took up a shoulder blade, and he said, 'Write,' "Not equal are those believers who remain behind and those who strive" and he recited the whole verse through to His words "a great reward" [Nisa 4:95]. So I wrote it on the shoulder blade. When Ibn Umm Maktum heard it, he stood up. He was a blind man, and he rose the moment he heard of the excellence of those who strive. He said, "Messenger of Allah, what about someone who is unable to take part in jihad, one who is blind or in a similar condition?"Zayd continued, "By Allah, no sooner had he finished speaking, indeed the moment he completed his words, than the stillness came over the Prophet ﷺ again, and his thigh came to rest on mine, and I felt the same weight I had felt the first time. Then the state passed from him and he said, 'Recite.'So I recited to him, "Not equal are those believers who remain behind and those who strive."The Prophet ﷺ said, "other than those who have a disability" [Nisa 4:95].So I added it in. By Allah, it is as though I can still see the place where I inserted it, next to a crack that was in that shoulder blade."
