Zayd bin Thabit said to me, "Did I not see you tonight shortening the recitation in the two units of Maghrib? By the One in whose hand my soul is, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in them the longest of the two long surahs."
حدثنا سليمان بن داود أنا عبد الرحمن بن أبي الزناد عن هشام بن عروة عن أبيه
قال لي زيد بن ثابت ألم أرك الليلة خففت القراءة في سجدتي المغرب والذي نفسي بيده إن كان رسول الله ﷺ ليقرأ فيهما بطولى الطوليين
