I asked Abu Dharr, "Which part of the night is best for prayer?"Abu Dharr replied, "I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ the same question you have asked me," (Awf was uncertain here) "and he answered, 'The latter portion of the night, or the middle of the night, but few are those who do it.'"
Its isnad is hasan, because of Muhajir bin Makhlad Abu Khalid, or Abu Makhlad, whom Ibn Main considered acceptable, Abu Hatim considered weak, and Ibn Hibban considered trustworthy. Dhahabi said, "Acceptable," and accepted him in Taqrib. The same applies to Abu Muslim, who is Jadhami. The hadith previously appeared at 17899 and 17981.
