Abu Dharr reported,

I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was in the mosque, and I sat down with him.He said, "Abu Dharr, have you prayed?"I said, "No."He said, "Get up and pray."So I got up and prayed, then came back and sat with him.He said to me, "Abu Dharr, seek refuge with Allah from the evil of the devils among humans and jinn."I said, "Messenger of Allah, are there devils among humans?"He said, "Yes. Abu Dharr, shall I direct you to a treasure from the treasures of Paradise?"I said, "Yes, may my father and mother be ransomed for you."He said, "Say, 'There is no power and no strength except with Allah,' for it is a treasure from the treasures of Paradise."I said, "Messenger of Allah, what is prayer?"He said, "The best thing prescribed. Whoever wishes may do much, and whoever wishes may do little."I said, "What about fasting, Messenger of Allah?"He said, "An obligation that suffices."I said, "Messenger of Allah, what about charity?"He said, "Multiplied many times over, and with Allah there is yet more."I said, "Which of them is best, Messenger of Allah?"He said, "The struggle of one with little, or a secret gift to a poor person."I said, "Which of what Allah has revealed to you is the greatest?"He said, "Allah, there is no god but He, the Living, the Self-Sustaining" [Baqarah 2:255], until he completed the verse.I said, "Which of the prophets was the first?"He said, "Adam."I said, "Was he a prophet, Messenger of Allah?"He said, "A prophet to whom Allah spoke directly."I said, "How many messengers were there, Messenger of Allah?"He said, "Three hundred and fifteen, a great multitude."

حدثنا يزيد أخبرنا المسعودي عن أبي عمرو الشامي عن عبيد بن الخشخاش

عن أبي ذر قال

أتيت رسول الله ﷺ وهو في المسجد فجلست إليه فقال يا أبا ذر هل صليت قلت لا قال قم فصل قال فقمت فصليت ثم أتيته فجلست إليه فقال لي يا أبا ذر استعذ بالله من شر شياطين الإنس والجن قال قلت يا رسول الله وهل للإنس من شياطين قال نعم يا أبا ذر ألا أدلك على كنز من كنوز الجنة قال قلت بلى بأبي أنت وأمي قال قل لا حول ولا قوة إلا بالله فإنها كنز من كنوز الجنة قال قلت يا رسول الله فما الصلاة قال خير موضوع فمن شاء أكثر ومن شاء أقل قال قلت فما الصيام يا رسول الله قال فرض مجزئ قال قلت يا رسول الله فما الصدقة قال أضعاف مضاعفة وعند الله مزيد قال قلت أيها أفضل يا رسول الله قال جهد من مقل أو سر إلى فقير قلت فأي ما أنزل الله عز وجل عليك أعظم قال {الله لا إله إلا هو الحي القيوم} حتى ختم الآية قلت فأي الأنبياء كان أول قال آدم قلت أونبي كان يا رسول الله قال نبي مكلم قلت فكم المرسلون يا رسول الله قال ثلاث مائة وخمسة عشر جما غفيرا
