Abu Dharr reported,

I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was in the mosque, and I sat down.He said, "Abu Dharr, have you prayed?"I said, "No."He said, "Get up and pray."So I stood up, prayed, then sat down again.He said, "Abu Dharr, seek refuge in Allah from the evil of the devils of mankind and jinn."I said, "Messenger of Allah, are there devils among mankind too?"He said, "Yes."I said, "Messenger of Allah, what about prayer?"He said, "It is the best thing prescribed. Whoever wishes may do little, and whoever wishes may do much."I said, "Messenger of Allah, what about fasting?"He said, "An obligation that suffices, and with Allah there is more."I said, "Messenger of Allah, what about charity?"He said, "It is multiplied many times over."I said, "Messenger of Allah, which kind is best?"He said, "The effort of one with little, or something given secretly to a poor person."I said, "Messenger of Allah, which of the prophets was the first?"He said, "Adam."I said, "Messenger of Allah, was he truly a prophet?"He said, "Yes, a prophet to whom Allah spoke."I said, "Messenger of Allah, how many messengers were there?"He said, "Three hundred and some over ten, a great multitude." On another occasion he said, "Fifteen."I said, "Messenger of Allah, was Adam a prophet?"He said, "Yes, a prophet to whom Allah spoke."I said, "Messenger of Allah, which of what was revealed to you is the greatest?"He said, "The Verse of the Throne, 'Allah, there is no god but He, the Living, the Sustainer'" [Baqarah 2:255].

حدثنا وكيع حدثنا المسعودي أنبأني أبو عمر الدمشقي عن عبيد بن الخشخاش

عن أبي ذر قال

أتيت رسول الله ﷺ وهو في المسجد فجلست فقال يا أبا ذر هل صليت قلت لا قال قم فصل قال فقمت فصليت ثم جلست فقال يا أبا ذر تعوذ بالله من شر شياطين الإنس والجن قال قلت يا رسول الله وللإنس شياطين قال نعم قلت يا رسول الله الصلاة قال خير موضوع من شاء أقل ومن شاء أكثر قال قلت يا رسول الله فما الصوم قال فرض مجزئ وعند الله مزيد قلت يا رسول الله فالصدقة قال أضعاف مضاعفة قلت يا رسول الله فأيها أفضل قال جهد مقل أو سر إلى فقير قلت يا رسول الله أي الأنبياء كان أول قال آدم قلت يا رسول الله ونبي كان قال نعم نبي مكلم قال قلت يا رسول الله كم المرسلون قال ثلاث مائة وبضعة عشر جما غفيرا وقال مرة خمسة عشر قال قلت يا رسول الله آدم أنبي كان قال نعم نبي مكلم قلت يا رسول الله أيما أنزل عليك أعظم قال آية الكرسي {الله لا إله إلا هو الحي القيوم}
