Abu Dharr reported,

I said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "I want to spend the night at your home so I may pray as you pray."He replied, "You will not be able to endure my prayer."Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ rose to perform ghusl, screening himself with a garment while I turned away from him, and he washed. Then I did the same. Then he stood to pray, and I stood with him, until I began knocking my head against the walls from the length of his prayer.Then Bilal called the adhan for the prayer.The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Did you do it?"Bilal answered, "Yes."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Bilal, you call the adhan when the dawn light is rising vertically in the sky, but that is not the true dawn. The true dawn is only this, spreading horizontally."Then he called for the predawn meal and ate.

حدثنا يحيى بن غيلان حدثنا رشدين يعني ابن سعد حدثني عمرو بن الحارث قال وحدثني رشدين عن سالم بن غيلان التجيبي حدثه أن سليمان بن أبي عثمان حدثه عن حاتم بن عدي أو عدي بن حاتم الحمصي

عن أبي ذر قال

قلت لرسول الله ﷺ إني أريد أن أبيت عندك الليلة فأصلي بصلاتك قال لا تستطيع صلاتي فقام رسول الله ﷺ يغتسل فيستر بثوب وأنا محول عنه فاغتسل ثم فعلت مثل ذلك ثم قام يصلي وقمت معه حتى جعلت أضرب برأسي الجدران من طول صلاته ثم أذن بلال للصلاة فقال أفعلت قال نعم قال يا بلال إنك لتؤذن إذا كان الصبح ساطعا في السماء وليس ذلك الصبح إنما الصبح هكذا معترضا ثم دعا بسحور فتسحر
