When Abu Dharr came to Uthman from Syria, he said, "My beloved friend ﷺ commanded me with three things. Listen and obey, even if the one in charge be a slave with amputated limbs. When you cook a broth, add plenty of water to it, then look for a household among your neighbors and share some of it with them in a kindly manner. And pray each prayer at its proper time. If you then find that the imam has already prayed, you have already secured your prayer, and if not, it counts as a voluntary prayer."

لما قدم أبو ذر على عثمان من الشام فقال أمرني خليلي ﷺ بثلاث اسمع وأطع ولو عبدا مجدع الأطراف وإذا صنعت مرقة فأكثر ماءها ثم انظر أهل بيت من جيرتك فأصبهم منها بمعروف وصل الصلاة لوقتها فإن وجدت الإمام قد صلى فقد أحرزت صلاتك وإلا فهي نافلة
