We had brought something for Abu Dharr that we intended to give him. We came to Rabadha and asked about him, but did not find him. We were told that he had requested permission to perform the Hajj and had been granted it. So we came to him at Balda, which is Mina.While we were with him, someone said to him that Uthman had prayed four units. This weighed heavily on Abu Dharr, and he spoke harshly about it, saying, "I prayed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he prayed two units, and I prayed with Abu Bakr and Umar likewise."Then Abu Dharr stood up and prayed four units himself. He was asked, "You criticized the Commander of the Faithful for something, and then you did the same?"He replied, "Disagreement is worse. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed us and said, 'There will be a ruler after me, so do not humiliate him. Whoever seeks to humiliate him has slipped the bond of Islam from his neck, and no repentance will be accepted from him until he repairs the breach he caused, which he will not do. Then he will return to being among those who honor him.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us that they should not overcome us in three matters, that we command what is right, forbid what is wrong, and teach people the established practices."
حدثنا يزيد ومحمد بن يزيد قالا حدثنا العوام قال محمد عن القاسم وقال يزيد في حديثه حدثني القاسم بن عوف الشيباني
كنا قد حملنا لأبي ذر شيئا نريد أن نعطيه إياه فأتينا الربذة فسألنا عنه فلم نجده قيل استأذن في الحج فأذن له فأتيناه بالبلدة وهي منى فبينا نحن عنده إذ قيل له إن عثمان صلى أربعا فاشتد ذلك على أبي ذر وقال قولا شديدا وقال صليت مع رسول الله ﷺ فصلى ركعتين وصليت مع أبي بكر وعمر ثم قام أبو ذر فصلى أربعا فقيل له عبت على أمير المؤمنين شيئا ثم صنعت قال الخلاف أشد إن رسول الله ﷺ خطبنا فقال إنه كائن بعدي سلطان فلا تذلوه فمن أراد أن يذله فقد خلع ربقة الإسلام من عنقه وليس بمقبول منه توبة حتى يسد ثلمته التي ثلم وليس بفاعل ثم يعود فيكون فيمن يعزه أمرنا رسول الله ﷺ أن لا يغلبونا على ثلاث أن نأمر بالمعروف وننهى عن المنكر ونعلم الناس السنن
