I passed by Umar bin Khattab, and he said, "What an excellent young man." A man who had been sitting with him followed me and said, "Nephew, pray to Allah for good on my behalf."I said, "Who are you, may Allah have mercy on you?"He replied, "I am Abu Dharr, the companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."I said, "May Allah forgive you. You have more right to pray for me than I have to pray for you."He said, "Nephew, when I just passed by Umar bin Khattab, I heard him say, 'What an excellent young man,' and I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Allah has placed truth upon the tongue of Umar, and he speaks by it.'"
حدثنا يزيد حدثنا محمد بن إسحاق عن مكحول
مررت بعمر بن الخطاب فقال نعم الغلام فاتبعني رجل ممن كان عنده فقال يا ابن أخي ادع الله لي بخير قال قلت ومن أنت يرحمك الله قال أنا أبو ذر صاحب رسول الله ﷺ فقلت غفر الله لك أنت أحق أن تدعو لي مني لك قال يا ابن أخي إني سمعت عمر بن الخطاب حين مررت به آنفا يقول نعم الغلام وسمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول إن الله وضع الحق على لسان عمر يقول به
