I used to recite to him and he would recite to me while walking along the road. He would come across a verse of prostration and prostrate.I asked him, "Do you prostrate in the middle of the road?"He replied, "Yes. I heard Abu Dharr say, 'I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "Messenger of Allah, which mosque was placed on the earth first?"He answered, "The Sacred Mosque."I asked, "Then which?"He said, "Then the Aqsa Mosque."I asked, "How long was there between them?"He said, "Forty years." Then he said, "Wherever the time of prayer overtakes you, pray, for it is a place of prostration."'"Abu Awana said, "I used to recite to him and he would recite to me."
حدثنا عفان حدثنا أبو عوانة عن سليمان الأعمش
كنت أعرض عليه ويعرض علي في السكة فيمر بالسجدة فيسجد قال قلت أتسجد في السكة قال نعم سمعت أبا ذر يقول سألت رسول الله ﷺ قال قلت يا رسول الله أي مسجد وضع في الأرض أول قال المسجد الحرام قال قلت ثم أي قال ثم المسجد الأقصى قال قلت كم بينهما قال أربعون سنة قال ثم أينما أدركتك الصلاة فصل فهو مسجد وقد قال أبو عوانة كنت أقرأ عليه ويقرأ علي
