I came to Abu Dharr and said, "What is the matter with you?"He replied, "It is my deeds."I said, "Tell me a hadith."He said, "Yes. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'There are no two Muslim parents whose three children die before reaching the age of accountability except that Allah will forgive them.'"I said, "Tell me more."He said, "Yes. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'There is no Muslim who spends a pair of anything he owns in the path of Allah except that the gatekeepers of Paradise will all come out to meet him, each one inviting him to what is with him.'"I asked, "How is that?"He answered, "If it is Some men, then two men. If it is camels, then two camels. If it is cattle, then two cows."
Its isnad is sahih. Sasaa bin Muawiya was one of the great righteous mukhadramun, and it was said that he had companionship with the Prophet. The hadith was narrated by Nasai 4/24 no. 1874, by Bukhari in Adab al-Mufrad 66 no. 150, and by Darimi 2/268 no. 2403 in the chapter on jihad, from "whoever spends on a pair."
