Abdullah bin Abbas reported,

When Uthman bin Mazun died, a woman said, "Congratulations to you, Uthman bin Mazun, for Paradise."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ looked at her with an angry glance and said, "How do you know that?"She replied, "Messenger of Allah, he was your knight and your companion."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "By Allah, I am the Messenger of Allah, yet I do not know what will be done with me."So the people grew anxious for Uthman.When Zaynab, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, died, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Join our righteous predecessor, Uthman bin Mazun."The women began to weep, and Umar started striking them with his whip. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took hold of his hand and said, "Easy, Umar." Then he said, "Weep, but beware of the wailing of Satan." Then he said, "Whatever comes from the eye and the heart is from Allah and from mercy, and whatever comes from the hand and the tongue is from Satan."

حدثنا يزيد أخبرنا حماد بن سلمة عن علي بن زيد عن يوسف بن مهران

عن ابن عباس قال

لما مات عثمان بن مظعون قالت امرأة هنيئا لك الجنة عثمان بن مظعون فنظر رسول الله ﷺ إليها نظر غضبان فقال وما يدريك قالت يا رسول الله فارسك وصاحبك فقال رسول الله ﷺ والله إني رسول الله وما أدري ما يفعل بي فأشفق الناس على عثمان فلما ماتت زينب ابنة رسول الله ﷺ قال رسول الله ﷺ الحقي بسلفنا الصالح الخير عثمان بن مظعون فبكت النساء فجعل عمر يضربهن بسوطه فأخذ رسول الله ﷺ بيده وقال مهلا يا عمر ثم قال ابكين وإياكن ونعيق الشيطان ثم قال إنه مهما كان من العين والقلب فمن الله عز وجل ومن الرحمة وما كان من اليد واللسان فمن الشيطان
