The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded the man who has intercourse with his wife while she is menstruating to give a Dinar or half a Dinar in charity.
حدثني يزيد أخبرنا سعيد عن قتادة عن مقسم
أمر رسول الله ﷺ الذي يأتي امرأته وهي حائض أن يتصدق بدينار أو نصف دينار
Its isnad is sahih. Saeed is Ibn Abu Aruba. Bayhaqi related the hadith in 1:315-316 through Abdul-Wahhab, and it is the hadith that comes after this one. He then claimed that Qatada did not hear it from Miqsam, but rather from Abdul-Hameed bin Abdul-Rahman, and he related it accordingly. Then he claimed that Qatada did not hear it from Abdul-Hameed either, but rather from Hakam bin Utayba.I said in my commentary on Tirmidhi 1:251, I do not know what value this line of criticism has. For if what he mentioned is correct, then the hadith is connected, with its source of connection known. And if it is not correct, then his first isnad stands as connected. Qatada was a trustworthy successor who died in the year 117 or 118, and he was a contemporary of Miqsam, and he heard from people older than him, so it is not unlikely that he heard from him. It later became clear that both isnads he mentioned for this criticism are daif.This hadith is a repetition of 2032, and we noted this there. It will also come with this isnad at 2844.
