Abdullah bin Abbas reported,

A man from the tribe of Banu Fazarah disputed with me about the man whom Musa followed. I said, "He was al-Khidr ," but the Fazari said, "He was another man."Then Ubayy bin Kaab passed by us. Ibn Abbas said, "I called him over and asked him, 'Did you hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mention the one whom Musa followed?'"He replied, "Yes, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'While Musa was sitting among a gathering of the Children of Israil, a man said to him, "Is there anyone more knowledgeable of Allah than you?" Musa answered, "I do not think so." Then Allah revealed to him, "Yes, my servant al-Khidr." So Musa asked the way to reach him, and Allah made the fish a sign for him, telling him that if he lost it he would find al-Khidr. And his story unfolded as Allah has recounted.'"

عن ابن عباس قال

ماراني رجل من بني فزارة في الرجل الذي اتبعه موسى عليه السلام فقلت هو الخضر عليه السلام وقال الفزاري هو رجل آخر فمر بنا أبي بن كعب قال ابن عباس فدعوته فسألته سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يذكر الذي تبعه موسى عليه السلام قال نعم سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول بينما موسى جالس في ملإ من بني إسرائيل فقال له رجل هل أحد أعلم بالله تبارك وتعالى منك قال ما أرى فأوحى الله إليه بلى عبدي الخضر فسأل السبيل إليه فجعل الله تبارك وتعالى له الحوت آية إن افتقده وكان من شأنه ما قص الله تبارك وتعالى
