Its chain of transmission is sahih. Qays bin Habtar, with a fatha on the ha and the ta with an unvoweled ba between them, the Kufan, is trustworthy. Abu Zura and Nasai both affirmed his trustworthiness, and Bukhari mentioned him in al-Kabir, 1/148/4.Regarding this hadith, the Hafiz pointed out in al-Tahdhib, 3:389, that Abu Dawud narrated it, but I only found part of it in his book, 3:297, namely the prohibition of taking payment for a dog, which will come at number 2512 in our collection. Tayalisi narrated it in his Musnad, 2755, from Sallam, from Abdul-Kareem Jazari, from a man of Banu Tamim, from Ibn Abbas, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Payment for a dog is forbidden, the wages of a prostitute are forbidden, and the price of wine is forbidden." This unnamed man is Qays bin Habtar, for he was a Nahshali of Banu Tamim.The wages of a prostitute refers to what an adulteress takes in exchange for fornication, which is forbidden both by explicit text and by the consensus of the Muslims. It was called a "wage" because of its outward resemblance to one. This hadith will come again in fuller form at number 2626.
