I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivering the sermon while standing. Whoever tells you that he saw him deliver the sermon in any way other than standing has lied. However, sometimes he would come out and see that the people were few in number, so he would sit down. Then they would gather, and he would stand and deliver the sermon while standing.
حدثنا حسين بن محمد حدثنا سليمان بن قرم عن سماك
رأيت رسول الله ﷺ يخطب قائما فمن حدثك أنه رآه يخطب إلا قائما فقد كذب ولكنه ربما خرج ورأى الناس في قلة فجلس ثم يثوبون ثم يقوم فيخطب قائما
