The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I have been commanded to offer the sacrifice and the witr prayer, but they have not been made obligatory."

Its isnad is daif due to the weakness of Jabir Jafi. Its beginning is a statement attributed to Abu Jafar Baqir, Muhammad bin Ali bin Husayn, and Ata bin Abu Rabah, without going back to the Prophet. The second part of it is a marfu hadith. Something similar to it has already passed by way of Jafi at 2065. The narration of Hakam from Miqsam will come at greater length at 2507, and in abridged form at 3005. The hadith will also come again at 2842.
