The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed through our neighborhood and noticed the smell of roasting meat. He asked, "Who has slaughtered an animal?"A man from among us came out and said, "Messenger of Allah, today was a day when meat was scarce, so I slaughtered an animal to eat from it and feed my neighbors."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Then slaughter another one in its place."The man said, "By the One besides whom there is no god, I have nothing but a yearling sheep," or he said, "a lamb." He repeated this three times. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Then slaughter it, but it will not suffice for anyone after you."
Its isnad is daif, because of Amr bin Bahran, whose correct name is Bijdan. They said his condition is unknown. This hadith is repeated with many of the companions. See 16437.
