They said, "Messenger of Allah, we used to offer the atirah sacrifice during the days of ignorance. What do you command us to do?"He said, "Sacrifice for Allah in whichever month it may be, fulfill your duty to Allah , and feed others."They said, "Messenger of Allah, we used to offer the firstborn sacrifice during the days of ignorance. What do you command us to do?"He said, "For every grazing herd, there is a firstborn. Let your livestock raise it until, when it is old enough to bear loads, you slaughter it and give its meat in charity." Khalid said, I think he said, "to the wayfarer, for that is best."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "We had forbidden you to eat the meat of sacrifices beyond three days so that there would be enough for everyone. Now Allah has brought abundance, so eat, store, and seek profit. Indeed, these days are days of eating, drinking, and remembrance of Allah ."Khalid said, I asked Abu Qilaba, "How many make a grazing herd?"He replied, "One hundred."

عن نبيشة الهذلي قال

قالوا يا رسول الله إنا كنا نعتر عتيرة في الجاهلية فما تأمرنا قال اذبحوا لله عز وجل في أي شهر ما كان وبروا الله تبارك وتعالى وأطعموا قالوا يا رسول الله إنا كنا نفرع في الجاهلية فرعا فما تأمرنا قال في كل سائمة فرع تغذوه ماشيتك حتى إذا استحمل ذبحته فتصدقت بلحمه قال خالد أراه قال على ابن السبيل فإن ذلك هو خير قال وقال رسول الله ﷺ إنا كنا نهيناكم أن تأكلوا لحومها فوق ثلاث كي تسعكم فقد جاء الله بالسعة فكلوا وادخروا واتجروا ألا وإن هذه الأيام أيام أكل وشرب وذكر الله تبارك وتعالى قال خالد قلت لأبي قلابة كم السائمة قال مائة
