Ali bin Abu Talib came to Uhban and asked, "What prevents you from following me?"Uhban replied, "My dear friend and your cousin, meaning the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, gave me a directive. He said, 'There will be trials and division. When that happens, break your sword and take up a sword of wood.' The trials and division have indeed come, so I broke my sword and took up a sword of wood."When his condition grew serious, Uhban instructed his family to shroud him without clothing him in a shirt. The narrator said, "We dressed him in a shirt, but when morning came, we found the shirt on the clothes rack."
Its isnad is hasan, on account of Abu Amr Qasmali, though the correct form is Abu Isa. He is Ayn bin Sinan. Ibn Main and Ibn Hibban considered him reliable, while Abu Hatim cast doubt on him, and Abu Zura and Nasai declared him daif. The hadith is like the one before it.
