He heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Indeed, divination by birds, drawing lines on the ground, and taking ill omens are forms of jibt."Awf explained that al-iyafah refers to driving birds away to seek omens from their flight, and al-tarq refers to lines drawn on the ground for divination. As for al-jibt, Hasan said it means Satan.
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر حدثنا عوف عن حيان حدثني
أنه سمع رسول الله ﷺ قال إن العيافة والطرق والطيرة من الجبت قال عوف العيافة زجر الطير والطرق الخط يخط في الأرض والجبت قال الحسن إنه الشيطان
