One day he said to his companions, "Shall I not show you how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray?" This was at a time other than the time of prayer. So he stood up, holding the standing posture for a while, then he bowed and held the bowing posture for a while, then he raised his head and stood upright briefly, then he prostrated, then he raised his head, saying takbir while sitting, then he waited briefly, then he prostrated again.Abu Qilaba said, "He prayed a prayer like the prayer of this elder of ours," meaning Amr bin Salama al-Jarmi, who used to lead prayers during the time of the Prophet ﷺ.Ayub said, "I saw Amr bin Salama do something that I do not see you doing. When he raised his head from the two prostrations, he would sit upright, then rise from the first and second rakah."

لأصحابه يوما ألا أريكم كيف كانت صلاة رسول الله ﷺ قال وذلك في غير حين صلاة فقام فأمكن القيام ثم ركع فأمكن الركوع ثم رفع رأسه وانتصب قائما هنية ثم سجد ثم رفع رأسه ويكبر في الجلوس ثم انتظر هنية ثم سجد قال أبو قلابة فصلى صلاة كصلاة شيخنا هذا يعني عمرو بن سلمة الجرمي وكان يؤم على عهد النبي ﷺ قال أيوب فرأيت عمرو بن سلمة يصنع شيئا لا أراكم تصنعونه كان إذا رفع رأسه من السجدتين استوى قاعدا ثم قام من الركعة الأولى والثانية
