We were with the Prophet ﷺ when a man praised another man. The Prophet ﷺ said, "You have broken his back. If one of you must praise his companion, let him say, 'I reckon him to be such and such, and Allah is his reckoner, and I do not declare anyone pure before Allah. I reckon him to be such and such,' if he indeed knows that of him."
حدثنا عبد الرزاق أخبرنا سفيان عن خالد الحذاء حدثنا ابن أبي بكرة
كنا عند النبي ﷺ فمدح رجل رجلا فقال النبي ﷺ قطعت ظهره إذا كان أحدكم مادحا صاحبه لا محالة فليقل أحسبه والله حسيبه ولا أعذر على الله أحدا أحسبه كذا وكذا إن كان يعلم ذلك منه
