He said to his father, "Father, I hear you supplicating every morning, 'Allah, grant me well-being in my body. Allah, grant me well-being in my hearing. Allah, grant me well-being in my sight. There is no god but You,' repeating it three times in the morning and three times in the evening. And you say, 'Allah, I seek refuge in You from disbelief and poverty. Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave. There is no god but You,' repeating it three times in the morning and three times in the evening."He replied, "Yes, my son. I heard the Prophet ﷺ supplicate with these words, and I love to follow his way."He also said that the Prophet ﷺ said, "The supplications of one in distress are, 'Allah, I hope for Your mercy, so do not entrust me to myself for even the blink of an eye. Set right all my affairs. There is no god but You.'"

لأبيه يا أبت إني أسمعك تدعو كل غداة اللهم عافني في بدني اللهم عافني في سمعي اللهم عافني في بصري لا إله إلا أنت تعيدها ثلاثا حين تصبح وثلاثا حين تمسي وتقول اللهم إني أعوذ بك من الكفر والفقر اللهم إني أعوذ بك من عذاب القبر لا إله إلا أنت تعيدها حين تصبح ثلاثا وثلاثا حين تمسي قال نعم يا بني إني سمعت النبي ﷺ يدعو بهن فأحب أن أستن بسنته قال وقال النبي ﷺ دعوات المكروب اللهم رحمتك أرجو فلا تكلني إلى نفسي طرفة عين أصلح لي شأني كله لا إله إلا أنت
Its isnad is hasan. Abdul-Jalil is Ibn Atiya Qaysi, Abu Salih Basri, and Jafar bin Maymun is Tamimi, and both are reliable narrators, but they have lapses and errors. The hadith previously appeared in abridged form at 20260, and it is found in Abu Dawud, 4/326, no. 5090, in the Book of Manners, on what to say upon waking in the morning.
