The Messenger of Allah ﷺ began the prayer and said the opening takbir, then he gestured to them to remain in their places. He went inside, then came out with his head dripping with water and led them in prayer. When he had finished the prayer, he said, "I am only a human being, and I was in a state of major ritual impurity."
حدثنا يزيد أخبرنا حماد بن سلمة عن زياد الأعلم عن الحسن
أن رسول الله ﷺ استفتح الصلاة فكبر ثم أومأ إليهم أن مكانكم ثم دخل فخرج ورأسه يقطر فصلى بهم فلما قضى الصلاة قال إنما أنا بشر وإني كنت جنبا
