On that day, the Prophet ﷺ sat upon a camel while a man held its reins or halter. He asked, "What day is this of yours?"We remained silent, thinking he would give it a name other than its known one. He said, "Is it not the Day of Sacrifice?"We replied, "Yes."He asked, "What month is this of yours?"We remained silent, thinking he would give it a name other than its known one. He said, "Is it not Dhul-Hijjah?"We replied, "Yes."He asked, "What land is this of yours?"We remained silent, thinking he would give it a name other than its known one. He said, "Is it not the Sacred City?"We replied, "Yes."He said, "Indeed, your blood, your property, and your honor are sacred among you, just as the sanctity of this day of yours, in this month of yours, in this land of yours. Let those present convey this to those who are absent, for the one who is present may convey it to someone who will retain it better than he."Muhammad said, then a man remarked, "Indeed, that has come to pass."
حدثنا محمد بن أبي عدي عن ابن عون عن محمد يعني ابن سيرين عن عبد الرحمن بن أبي بكرة
لما كان ذلك اليوم قعد النبي ﷺ على بعير وأخذ رجل بزمامه أو بخطامه فقال أي يوم يومكم هذا قال فسكتنا حتى ظننا أنه سيسميه سوى اسمه قال أليس بالنحر قال قلنا بلى قال فأي شهر شهركم هذا قال فسكتنا حتى ظننا أنه سيسميه سوى اسمه فقال أليس بذي الحجة قال قلنا بلى قال فأي بلد بلدكم هذا قال فسكتنا حتى ظننا أنه سيسميه سوى اسمه فقال أليس بالبلدة قال قلنا بلى قال فإن دماءكم وأموالكم وأعراضكم بينكم حرام كحرمة يومكم هذا في شهركم هذا في بلدكم هذا ألا فليبلغ الشاهد الغائب فإن الشاهد عسى أن يبلغه من هو أوعى له منه قال محمد فقال رجل فقد كان ذاك
