A man reported,

I left my family intending to visit the Prophet ﷺ, and when I came upon him, he was standing with a man who was facing him in conversation. I thought the two of them had some matter between them.The Ansari narrator said, "By Allah, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood for so long that I began to feel sorry for him because of how long he had been standing. When he finished, I said, 'Messenger of Allah, that man kept you standing so long that I started to feel sorry for you.'"He asked, "Did you see him?"I said, "Yes."He asked, "Do you know who he was?"I said, "No."He said, "That was Jibreel . He kept urging me to be good to the neighbor until I thought he was going to make him an heir. Had you greeted him with peace, he would have returned the greeting."

حدثنا محمد بن جعفر حدثنا هشام ويزيد قال أخبرنا هشام عن حفصة عن أبي العالية عن الأنصاري قال يزيد

عن رجل من الأنصار قال

خرجت من أهلي أريد النبي ﷺ فإذا أنا به قائم ورجل معه مقبل عليه فظننت أن لهما حاجة قال فقال الأنصاري والله لقد قام رسول الله ﷺ حتى جعلت أرثي لرسول الله ﷺ من طول القيام فلما انصرف قلت يا رسول الله لقد قام بك الرجل حتى جعلت أرثي لك من طول القيام قال ولقد رأيته قلت نعم قال أتدري من هو قلت لا قال ذاك جبريل عليه السلام ما زال يوصيني بالجار حتى ظننت أنه سيورثه ثم قال أما إنك لو سلمت عليه رد عليك السلام
