I saw Ata, Ibn Abu Mulayka, and Ikrima bin Khalid throwing the pebbles at the Jamra before dawn on the Day of Sacrifice. My father said to him, "Abu Sulayman, in which year did you hear from Nafi bin Umar?"He replied, "In the year one hundred sixty-nine, the year of the incident of Husayn."

Its isnad is sahih. Nafi bin Umar bin Abdullah bin Jamil is trustworthy and precise, and his hadith is found in the collections of the Jamaah. This is an account of the action of a Tabii. However, the Prophet ﷺ did not throw the pebbles at the Jamrah before Fajr, but rather in the forenoon, as in 15228, though it is reported that he sent the weaker members of his family ahead at night.
