I came in to see the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he called for the cupper, who came to him with cupping horns and applied them to him. Affan once said, with a single horn. He then made an incision with a blade. An Arabi from Banu Fazara, one of the Banu Judhayma, came in. When he saw him being cupped, having no familiarity with cupping and not knowing what it was, he asked, "What is this, Messenger of Allah? Why are you letting this man cut your skin?"The Prophet ﷺ replied, "This is cupping."The man asked, "And what is cupping?"He answered, "It is among the best remedies people use for treatment."

Its chain of transmission is sahih. This hadith has been repeated many times in similar wording, and Haythami (5/92) attributed it in this exact wording to Ahmad and Tabarani, saying, "Its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except for Husayn bin Abu Hurr, who is trustworthy." Hakim (4/209) graded it sahih, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
