Its isnad is sahih, and Rabi bin Umaylah Fazari is trustworthy, his hadith being found in Muslim. The hadith was narrated by Muslim, 4/1885, no. 2136, in the Book of Manners, on changing an unpleasant name, and by Tirmidhi, 5/133, no. 2836, in the Book of Manners, on names that are disliked. Ibn Majah narrated it similarly, 2/1229, no. 3729, and Darimi in the Book of Seeking Permission, 2/294. Hakim graded it sahih, 4/274, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
